GIFT team members, Christie Simonton, Deb Strathman, Jack Hartt, and Lorrie Steele pose with a donation from a most generous donor. We are honored that Roseann Torkelson, a long-time Guemes Island resident, chose the trail as a way to honor her late husband, Dean, who was walking in Seattle when he was fatally struck by a motorist.
Phase 2 will continue the trail from the Community Hall parking lot northward to Schoolhouse Park. The completed trail (Phases 1 & 2) will connect the Guemes Island ferry dock, the Store, the "Community Campus" (the Church, Labyrinth, Library, and Community Hall), and all of the amenities at Schoolhouse Park (the stage, pavilion, playground, pickleball and tennis courts, basketball courts, and sports field).
What an amazing island we live on, and what a gift this trail to all these amenities will be for islanders and visitors from near and far!
GIFT falls under the Guemes Island Library’s 501 (c) 3 status
